Thank you for some awesome linkage! The pressure is further forward than perineum as I’m in a pretty forward-sitting position. I am being patient as I put about ten miles a day on the bike, when I ride it, and I know I have time to figure it out.

My husband’s coworker, a very macho fella, had a noseless saddle and I think he felt a-OK about it!

If you reduce nervous and blood circulation to the perineum, function (including immune function) is weakened, so I think you and your pubic bone are right on.

My dude tried a number of different seats (some that screamed Erectile Dysfunction! Ha!) before finally settling on a fairly normal looking women’s seat that was created for wide hips, enough so that his sitz bones/sitting bones are actually taking the pressure, rather than the perineum. The problem with this solution is that, unless a woman has very narrow hips – finding a seat that was designed for bigger hips than ours is pretty hard. I’m still looking for solutions and if you find one, let me know….in a normal sitting position, there is no pressure on the perineum so I’ve been trying to figure out how to get that.

It’s very similar to saying goodbye to the baby-sling days. Except my kids are old enough to articulate in words how much they loved the bike times and how much they miss them so it’s all the more poignant.

I got to carry a baby the other day and rock it to sleep… such good times. Also reminded me I don’t have the “baby-wearing” muscles like I used to!

What an amazing bike (but then, so is the new one)! I never had a bike like your X, but the thing I miss most about Rowan’s babyhood–by far–is toting him around in the sling. It was the best ever. I think I understand a little bit of your sadness at not physically carrying the kids around anymore in one form or another. Five years is a long run of great times on the bike!

Yes! That is why I originally got it. SUCH an improvement over a trailer. Nels was very wee so at first I had a seat installed but I quickly got rid of that and just rode the both of them. They’d climb around and stand up and all sorts of things. I could carry the kids and a week’s worth of groceries.
