Because, you know, it’s pretty damned exhibitionist to nurse a baby without something like this (I should have warned you PHOTO EXTREMELY NSFW!!!).
I was trying to find a picture of myself nursing my babies today; instead I ended up doing a random Flickr photo upload of the family. Enjoy.
I kinda like that nursing necklace.
I’ve seen some lovely nursing necklaces; my friend Abi wrote me yesterday and said this photo made it obvious that the nursing necklace was a decoy for the baby, who’d otherwise be fiddling with the breast he/she wasn’t feeding from.
It’s true that many nursing babies will try to nipple-twiddle (p.s. that’s the name of my new punk band side project!) and some speculate it’s a biological thing – increasing milk flow. My kids weren’t too into nipple-twiddling or in any case, I wasn’t into it so it didn’t happen. But I had friends whose kids would nurse on one side, twiddle on another, and it didn’t seem to bother the mamas!
