I made Phee six shirts from old shirts. Then I took pictures of her, up at the cemetery. Then I uploaded these photos and marveled at how lovely she is.
& of course, Hutch. WHO DID NOT DESECRATE ONE GRAVE, promise.
What a beauty! she looks great. I love this age (maybe i love all ages…).
Great shirts, I’m busy too with tshirt upgrades, will show pictures if it works. Love for you all.
@Josh
Thank you! We had a fun time taking pictures. It was a very fast shoot as we were on our way to pick up her friend for a sleepover. I bought her an ice cream after to thank her for “modeling”.

You ALWAYS make the coolest shit!
Sorry, I had to say that with my filters off in an attempt to convey my true jealousy.
Did Phoenix select the old shirts?
Out of curiosity, would a shirt project like this be something for beginners to try? I have zero understanding of how, but we do own a sewing machine. The last thing I sewed was a pillow in junior high home econmics class…maybe a patch or two since then.
First, thank you. Second, Phee didn’t pick any of them. They were literally shirts all worn out in the armpits etc.
I’m actually planning on teaching this class, locally, if my local craft shop thinks it’s a good plan. It’s definitely something a beginner could do, but that beginner would need to go a bit slowly and understand t-shirt knits are something where experience is the best teacher! Or you can write Craftsy.com and beg them to let me Kelly Hogaboom teach a t-shirt sewing online class.
brilliant! your child is lovely and your shirts are superb!
I saw the link to your sewing biz on twitter yesterday and I’ve been wondering if you’ve ever done a custom creation for children with limb differences? my 8 month old son will be a bilateral lower leg amputee soon and has shorter arms and hand differences, as well. Store bought clothes are tricky! And my sewing skills blow. I’d love to dialog with you about custom pants, if unusual sizing is workable.
@april
WHy yes I have done such a creation! I recently finished a jacket for sweet little D. – her mama is going to send me pictures, but the girl was happy to put the coat on when I met with her and delivered the coat.
You can email me – kelly AT hogaboom DOT org. I would love it if we could work something out!
